Last Minute IRONMAN

I’ve been thinking about a book for a few months; ever since Steve Speirs (@britishbulldog) came out with his awesome book (link to the right) 7 Weeks to 100 Push-ups. I’ve been submitting ideas for a “Push, Pull & Sit” workout and “30 Days to 30 Pull-ups” to his publisher with no real success, but I really have the itch to put together a workout book that I think would help others…

3 Weeks ago today I was amazingly fortunate enough to win entry into IRONMAN AZ from Newton Running, and have been training my butt off ever since. It dawned on me during my run this morning that a little over 3 months is an extremely short period of time to train/prepare for 140.6 miles of grueling endurance… maybe I have a new book idea – Last Minute Ironman – Training for an Ironman in 3 months.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

    Brett,

A couple things to take note of: First of all, while the 100 Push Up challenge was fun, it was lacking in that it left me to try and round out the rest of my workout on my own, so personally, I think a Push, Pull and Sit type of full body regimen is great. I also like the idea that its not an ‘ongoing’ thing. Its, ‘we’re going to do this for 2 months and this will be the result’. Measurable and achievable.

Second, he started with a simple website that’s been up for well more than a year before he went into print. It was tried, tested and proved before print. It built a large following before it went to print. This is easily something that you could do thru Tri PHX.

Third, I think Last Minute Ironman is a great idea, and I’d love to talk offline about it. Realize that its going to be extremely niche, which means smaller target audience, but larger per item return because virtually no competition. If you go with a Push, Pull, Sit concept, though, it will have a much larger appeal, but has to fight thru the mass of other options out there.

You thought of putting together a ‘desert workout’ or ‘hot climate’ book? Might be some sort of take that would work.
